Xenyx Thru Xenyx

·

On my musical journey, I decided to try going DAW-less for once, which prompted me to use my dad’s Berhringer Xenyx X2222 USB mixer. The experiment was a success, albeit with a few minor annoyances, so then I took the Xenyx to my computer and tried things out there, leading to me making a track.

Let me tell you, as someone who has been recording his music digitally, things have never sounded so clear. I can actually make the drums out from the rest of the mix.

Here’s the version mixed with Ableton.

I’ll be honest, I did not adjust any of the levels here, as a lot of the elements overpower each other, but I found that mixing on the Xenyx was far more fun than doing it on Ableton.

Using the Xenyx has convinced me to get a mixer of my own, hopefully one that could use all of its channels rather than the first four, and the rest sharing the same signal.
