Some more updates.
First, name change. I felt like “Monster Mayhem” was more of a working title, or a placeholder for the real name. A friend of mine came up with the name “Brave or Grave,” and it stuck. It’s the name of M. Bison’s theme in Street Fighter Alpha 3. So yeah.
Second, new character designs, or rather, colors.

Lastly, early game footage.
I made the sprite in Aseprite, and programmed the game using the Godot engine. The goal here is to work on both game design and the sprites at the same time (because I couldn’t imagine doing either or first).

I wanted to animate this sprite above, but I wasn’t sure of how. I was trying to figure out the size of the sprite in relation to the screen. This is where I learned the screen sizes of the Genesis, Saturn, and PS1, which had a screen res of 320×240 (max for Genesis).

I went for a sprite size around 48-58, animated it, and went from there. I will change the resolution later on, but that’s about it.
